LEAGUE DIRECTOR TIP OF THE WEEK

By Mitchell Seidenfeld

Tip #1: Affiliate your club or organization with USATT

One of the first things you should do if you are looking to organize a table tennis club or program is to affiliate your organization with USATT. When you affiliate with USATT your club or organization becomes eligible to receive these significant benefits:

  • Liability Insurance ($1,000,000 in coverage)
  • Recognition on the USATT website club listings
  • Host “USATT Sanctioned” tournaments and list them on the USATT Tournament Schedule
  • Retain 15% of fees paid to your club for individual and family USATT memberships
  • Club Handbook, Tournament Guide, and Instructors Guide to Table Tennis
  • Tournament Forms
  • One-Year subscription to USA Table Tennis Magazine

The cost to affiliate is $50/1 year or $125/3 years.

Many players in the U.S. believe that the only reason to join USATT is to be able to compete in USATT- sanctioned tournaments and get a USATT rating. The real value of USATT is found in its ability to develop your club or organization. The liability insurance coverage can save you hundreds of dollars each year and just might be the deciding factor whether or not you can partner with a school, community center, or church. Many organizations will require you to have at least $1,000,000 in liability coverage to use space in their facilities. USATT’s umbrella liability insurance coverage is designed to stop this from ever becoming a problem.

Talk about a great marketing one-two punch! Get your club information listed at www.usatt.org and get all of your leagues listed here at www.butterflyonline.com. Promoting your club and its programs through these websites will be the most cost-effective advertising you can find.
