2008 Potomac Spring Open, Potomac Country Table Tennis Club

This year’s Potomac Spring Open Tournament attracted over 80 players from the local area. The Open event field was particularly strong with entries from Cheng Yinghua and China’s Lu Ying. Lu was a finalist in the fall tournament and decided to return to the US for this tournament at the club’s invitation. The top two seeds Cheng and Yu swept their respective round robin groups in straight games and matches. The final proved to be a test of Cheng’s experience and wide skills versus Lu’s youth and quickness. Cheng emerged the winner in a closely fought match 4-1.
