Description of the 3M TT League:
The 3M TT League is part of the 3M Club; and is a mixture of friendly-competition and fun. It's primarily for 3M Employees and their associated friends/family in the Twin Cities (Saint Paul, Minnesota) area; so, a non-3M employee must know or contact someone in the League, in order to be sponsored and join the League.
The 3M TT League plays weekly, on Thursdays from 6pm to 10pm. There may be as many as 2 seasons each year – Fall and Summer:
Fall League
(Sep. thru Apr./May; with about 20 weeks of play, and potentially more, for each player);
and, sometimes a Summer Session (May/Jun. thru Aug./Sep; with about 10 to 14 weeks of play for each player)
– forming a Summer Session depends on whether an organizer is available.
At the start of the Fall League, Captains and Teams (1 to 8) are formed from a limited number of all available players; to be used for the duration of the League. Excess players may opt to register and pay a reduced fee and be assigned to an official non-team substitute list; and those “Official SUBs” are then on-call from the Teams and potentially play fewer weeks than Team players. The Fall League uses a handicap play format (to equalize player-levels) between Teams; consisting of singles and doubles matches with a 21-point scoring system
– payment for the Fall consists of one fee; and players commit to either a Team or being a SUB, but either Team players or SUBs may choose any weeks they do not want to play.
The Summer Session usually uses an individual non-handicap play format; consisting of an organized RR (round robin) with an 11-point scoring system and practice-hitting with any other available players
– payment for the Summer is more flexible; and players do not have to commit to any number of weeks.
