
Thanks to Macy Block, the lure of prize money brought many entrants on a very snowy tournament day. Four events had a first place award of $100 and a runner-up prize of $50. U 1300 was won by John Grimley over Tom King; U1500 was won Joy Artillero over Nick Zalany; U1700 was Carl Bradley over Seyed Hamrahian; and U1900 was won Greg Thompson over Max Wang (Columbus).
U2100 was won handily by Darren Tang, who walked away with $200 for defeating Columbus' Sharath Adengada, who won $100.
A purse of $300 went to John Tannehill (Columbus) who defeated Scott Endicott, who earned $150 in the U2300 event.
The Over 40 event was won by John Tannehill over Columbus' Robert Wong. The purse was $100 for the winner and $50 for the runner-up. Perhaps the most exciting match was played by El Hallal and Robert Wong in the semis. Strong spin and quick hits characterize both players.
John Tannehill and Slieman El Hallal teamed up to play in the Open Doubles. They were defeated in an exciting match by Samson Dubina and Don Hamilton in 4 games. Prizes were $200 and $100.
Samson's quickness and hard hits were too much for all his competition. He won the Open Singles over John Tannehill, taking home $700. Tannehill won $300; third and fourth earned $100 each, going to Scott Endicott and Don Hamilton.
