Austria Champions: Robert Gardos prevails, three titles for Liu Jia

3/07/2010 - New Austria’s champions are Robert GARDOS and LIU Jia. They won the titles in Singles Event at 80th Austria’s National Championships during the 75 years Tirol Table Tennis Association anniversary.

Robert GARDOS beat Daniel HABESOHN in the final of the Men’s Event 4:3 (-9, 9, 2, 3,-7, -9, 8). In the semi final GARDOS overcame Christoph SIMONER 4:1 ( -7, 9, 7, 8, 4) while HABESOHN beat Stefan FEGERL 4:3 (11, -9, 7, -12, 8, -10, 9).

In Women’s Singles final LIU Jia overcame LI Qiangbing 4:0 (2, 2, 8, 4). Previously LIU beat Martina PETZNER 4;0 (4, 3, 5, 5) and LI beat Nicole GALITSCHITSCH 4:0 (1, 3, 6, 6).

In Men’s Doubles Mathias HABESOHN and Christoph SIMONER overcame Krisztian GARDOS and Robert GARDOS in the final 3:1 (6, 8, 6, 9). In semi final Mathias HABESOHN and Christoph SIMONER overcame Daniel HABESOHN and Dominik HABESOHN 3:1 (9, -13, 10, 5), while Krisztian GARDOS and Robert GARDOS beat Stefan FEGERL and FENG Xiaoquan 3:1 (-9, 9, 10, 12).

LIU Jia and Martina PETZNER won gold in Women’s Doubles. They overcame Nicole GALITSCHITSCH and Karina KOVACS 3:0 (2, 2, 2). In semi final LIU Jia and Martina PETZNER beat Viktoria GRAF and Martha WELLINGER 3:0 (7, 2, 8), while Nicole GALITSCHITSCH and Karina KOVACS overcame Sarah KAINZ and Melanie LUGINGER 3:0 (7, 9, 7).

LIU JIa added another title to the list with Bernhard PRESSLMAYER in Mixed Doubles Event. They overcame FENG Xiaoquan and Martina PLETZNER. Dominik HABESOHN and Karina KOVACS as well as Tarek AL-SAMHOURY and Sarah KAINZ won bronze.
