A member of the 2009 ITTF World Hopes Team, Malaysia’s Angeline Tang has received immediate benefit from the staging of the 1st Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.

She has been awarded a Singapore Youth Olympic Scholarship and will study and train at the Singapore Sports School starting in 2011.

Singapore Youth Olympic Scholarships are supported by the Singapore Olympic Council in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee as part of Singapore Youth Olympic Games 2010.

They are a legacy of the 1st Youth Olympic Games.

One Per Continent
Six full scholarships, one for each of the five continents and one from Singapore, will be offered at each Summer Youth Olympic Games. The scholarships consist of integrated sports training and education at the Singapore Sports School for four to six years.

Success in Malaysia
Angeline Tang was the Girls’ Singles Champion at the Penang Schools Sports Council Championships in 2010 and was a member of the team that emerged as champions in the team event during the Malaysian Schools Table Tennis Championship in 2009.

In addition, she excels at athletics and spends her spare time reading and cycling.

Angeline started playing table tennis when she was seven years old; her first coach was Goh Aik Seng; currently she is being coached by Peng Jia Peng.

Award Ceremony
The award ceremony will take place during the forthcoming Youth Olympic Games.
