The New York Table Tennis League (NYTTL)


The New York Table Tennis League (NYTTL)is a Club based league, that runs from March to November each year. We are using a similar format used in club leagues in Europe, Asia and South-America. Round robin with three members in each team (5 out of 9 matches). The club can be represented by any member (with membership active since March). We are looking forward having the support from USATT to have playoffs with other clubs leagues in the 8 regions of US (according to USATT geographical distribution of clubs).

Each team keep playing the next year in the same division. After we complete 10 teams in the Honor Division (which is the highest level), the next 10 new teams will be added to the following division (First division), for every 10 teams will be created a new division (Second, Third, Fourth, etc).

 

In the final stage of the league system used in the NYTTL, in every division, teams play a round robin system and at the end of the year, the last two teams in each division go down to the following division, and the best two teams go up to the upper division. Every club can keep the spot in the division as far they have players to put in the team. All the new clubs interested in joining the league, have to start from the lowest division, even if they have strong players.

  • Type of League:  Club league with teams of 3 players. 
  • League Season / Hours: The matches are played every two or three weeks, according to the schedule sent in March.   Some times teams play as Guest in other club or Hosting a match in their own club.   In the case we had less than 6 teams, we have a double Round Robin, so every team plays one time as guest and one as host with all other teams.
  • Participating Clubs: During the season 2009, we had the clubs : Passaic Table Tennis Club, International Table Tennis Center, New York Table Tennis Federation, Dominican Association, Brownsville Strikers, City College of New York.
  • Divisions: The NYTTL is a young league with only one division.  But older and mature leagues using the same system have until 10 divisions with 10 teams in men and women.
  • Location: The matches are played in the same club participants in the league.
