Blade & Rubber Help

Many players are often intimidated by the wide selection of blade and rubber sheets available to them. Therefore, we have called upon our knowledgeable coaches to help answer the question:

"What blade and rubber combination do you recommend for a beginning to intermediate level player?"

"For first time students, I recommend the Primorac with Flextra 1.9mm on both sides. This combination, with good control and sufficient power, allows the students to learn the fundamental strokes quickly and with feel. When they become more advanced then they switch to Sriver 2.1mm or Tackifire-Drive 2.1mm for more speed and/or spin."

One can, however, make the task easier by using a systematic approach.(more)

Sriver EL vs Sriver FX:
A table tennis player asked Coach Lui the following question:
My blade is Michael Maze. I use Sriver FX on my forehand and I feel I have better control than if I use Sriver EL. However, I find it's better to use Sriver EL for smashing than Sriver FX. Can you please explain to me why this is? Would you advise me which rubber I should use? What is the best practice and most important technique to remember to improve forehand looping?(more)

Judging the Spin from an Antispin Rubber:
Most players, when asked the question, how does a ball behave when struck by an antispin rubber, will answer one of two ways:

It reverses the spin, or it kills the spin and the ball comes back like a knuckle ball.Even though both of these conditions occur frequently in actual rallies, these statements are misleading. In order to clarify this, we must understand..... (more)
