Littleton, CO - Top Spin Table Tennis Center had its monthly Round Robin this last Saturday September 8th.
Twenty-five players divided into 4 groups, both Elite and Advanced (2100 – 1800) players were mixed up in groups 1 & 2, and Intermediate and Beginner (1750 – 1100) players were combined in groups 3 and 4. The reason was to give lower players an opportunity to play higher lever players.
We started at 10am and finished by 2pm. There were eighty-four matches; many of them went to the fifth game. As always is the case at Top Spin Center, competition was intense, we had good fellowship, watching great matches, had snacks, and Diplomas were given to the winners.
Eric Prusiewicz won the Championship event with 6 victories and one loss. Basil Ibegbu played his spectacular game (greatest points against Lee Shapiro) Basil was second place and Hai Xue with his dangerous long pips got third. Upsets: Edward Yue beat Basil Ibegbu, Ariel Sanchez Mora defeat Lee Shapiro, and Tim Musgrove beat Mark Flemming. Dr. Michael Podolak got 1st place in the Intermediate groups, beating everyone, including Talgat Kosset in the final. Namsuk Wellman, after 15 years of inactivity (she used to be in the Korean Junior team back in the 70’s) got third. Mrs Yoko Wilcox is also playing again after 50 years of inactivity, she used to play back in the 60’s in her native country Japan. Welcome back Namsuk and Yoko!
