BUTTERFLY FAVORITES: Cheng I-Ching Long Serves

Posted on

(by Steve Hopkins)

This is a recent video posted by Chinese Taipei player Cheng I-Ching.  It shows her explaining a skill that players of all levels can use – the long serve.  *I am sure there is a lot of great commentary that I am missing (with my language barrier), but the instruction is pretty straight forward with the backswing, contact point, and forward motion.  Also note the height of the ball and where the first bounce is placed on the server’s side of the table.

This is a great weapon to add to any player’s service arsenal.

Cheng I-Ching uses a special Arylate Carbon blade, Dignics 09c on her backhand, and Tenergy 05 Hard on her backhand.
