Japanese Men’s and Women’s National Teams to wear the new shirt starting April 1, 2025

Tamasu Co., Ltd. (Butterfly) today unveiled the new official game shirt for the Japanese national table tennis teams. Tamasu Co., Ltd. will serve as the official supplier and will provide the official game shirts for the Japanese men’s and women’s national teams from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2029.

The theme of the new official game shirt is “Tranquility and Dynamism”, and its design concept is inspired by “Hamon”, the temper pattern found on traditional Japanese swords. Tranquility—the calm composure and deep concentration just before a serve—resembles the spirit of the Japanese sword, which calms and sharpens the mind in the moments of intense competition. And dynamism—the rhythmic and dynamic nature of table tennis play—mirrors the beauty of the shimmering Hamon pattern. The Japanese sword is also a traditional craft that Japan proudly shares with the world, and these concepts inspired the design of this game shirt.

The Japanese men’s and women’s national teams will begin wearing the new game shirt at the WTT Champions, to be held in Incheon, South Korea, from April 1 to 6, 2025.

Comments from Takako Osawa, the President and Managing Director of Tamasu Co., Ltd.
Finally, the Japanese men’s and women’s national teams will wear Butterfly’s game shirts. Since announcing our role as the official supplier in April last year, we have been preparing eagerly for this day.
It has been 40 years since the Japanese national team players last wore Butterfly’s game shirts at the 1985 tournament held in Gothenburg, Sweden. Today, the Japanese national teams are drawing global attention as one of the world’s leading powerhouses. We hope that, with Butterfly’s game shirts, the Japanese national team players will soar to even greater heights.
