(by Estefania Ramirios)

Maybelline Menéndez was one of the Butterfly Americas sponsored players competing earlier this Month at the 2024 South American Championships in Asunción, Paraguay.

Maybelline Menéndez, alongside her partner Eunice Gálvez, offered a thrilling display of skill and determination on their way to securing multiple victories in Asunción. Representing Ecuador, the dynamic duo clinched the Bronze Medal in both the Women’s Teams event and in Women’s Doubles, marking a significant achievement for Ecuadorian table tennis.

Maybelline, who became a member of the Universidad San Francisco de Quito table tennis club 2019 at the age of 9 years old, showcased her prowess throughout the tournament. Her journey to the podium included pivotal wins against formidable opponents.  Her signature achievement in Paraguay was a decisive triumph over Argentina’s Molero and Argüelles in the women’s doubles category.

Geovanny Coello is also a member of the University of San Francisco in Quito.  “Maybelline’s dedication to her sport has been unwavering,” Coello said, ” it’s wonderful to see her efforts pay off at such a prestigious event.” Geovanny Coello has been a representative of Butterfly in Ecuador for over two decades.  This achievement not only underscores Maybelline’s growth in the sport in South America, but also highlights supportive sponsors like Butterfly Americas. As a sponsored coach, Coello is committed to nurturing young talents such as Karolayn Maldonado who has also thrived under his guidance, exemplifies their dedication to sporting excellence.

“We are delighted to have Butterfly Americas on board this year as sponsors for Karolayn and Maybelline,” Coach Coello continued. “Their support ensures our athletes have access to top-tier equipment and training, which is crucial for their continued success on the international stage.”
