Thrilling Action Unfolds at the 2024 Butterfly Puerto Rico Open Teams

The energy was palpable in San Juan as the 2024 Butterfly Puerto Rico Open Teams kicked off last Friday, from the logistics of the sales booth, the practice tables and competition rooms to the debut of the College Finals (Justas Universitarias) for the first time in an international event and finally to nearly 100 teams descending upon the venue. With intense rallies and nail-biting matches, the tournament showcased the best of Table Tennis talent.

Prior to the upcoming competitions, one of the most traditional University events on the island takes place. Renowned Universities such as Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, University of Puerto Rico Campus in Rio Piedras and University of Puerto Rico Campus in Mayagüez, among others, participated in the finals.

It is worth noting that these competitions attract professional athletes of great international prestige to the island, offering university sports scholarships that provide young athletes with the opportunity to develop not only in sports but also academically.
