MLTT Weekly Round-Up

We’re live from Portland in 3, 2, 1…

Our matches are live to the planet on YouTube yet again in Season 2, so don’t forget to like and subscribe so that you don’t miss a second of MLTT action. We’re just a few hours from first serve at Viking Pavilion in the Rose City, and here are a few storylines we’ll be watching tonight.

Portland Paddlers

The hosts with the most? Few cities can say they pushed their team to victory as well as Portland did last season, so we’re eager to see if we get a repeat performance. PDX native Jiwei Xia leads the team back, but most of the roster was overhauled in the offseason, with only Rachel Sung returning, and six new faces joining. Will it be enough to push Portland into the playoffs this time around?

Bay Area Blasters

  • The West Division’s best team in the regular season came up short in the playoffs, taking third overall. Now, the Blasters have a new head coach in Tim Wang, and have rebuilt the squad around their stars. But of their top returning players, only Tao Wenzhang and Elsayed Lashin will be available in Portland. It won’t be easy out of the gate for Bay Area.

Princeton Revolution

  • The Revolution went from last place to the title game in Chicago, and were arguably the story of the first season. As a result, head coach Mathias Habesohn opted to keep most of his roster and only added two players in the draft, the fewest of any team. Will the Revolution’s depth of talent withstand the reinforcements around the league?

Florida Crocs

The Crocs had some tremendous highs and tremendous lows in year one, but the inarguably talented squad got the biggest gift of all when they landed the No. 1 pick in the MLTT draft and secured Liam Pitchford to lead their revenge tour. Are they poised to be the new team to beat in the East?
