ITTF Rankings: Fan on Top, Qiu and Lin-Ju Move Up

(by Steve Hopkins)

Dang Qiu (World No. 10)is in the World Top 10 for the first time and Lin Yun-Ju jumps up two spots to World No. 6.  The rest of the Top 10 remains stable with Jorgic dropping to No. 8 and Quadri Aruna falling from just out of the top 10 to eleventh.

Dan Qiu is riding his victory at the WTT Event in Lima over the weekend.  Qiu topped teammate Dimitrij Ovtcharov in the Final in Lima, but he is still one spot below Ovtcharov (who is No. 9) in the World Rankings.  Jorgic is 8, Harimoto is 7, Lin Yun-Ju is 6, Moregard is 5, Calderano is 4, Liang Jingkun is 3, Ma Long is 2, and Fan Zhendong remains at the top of the rankings.  To Fan’s credit, his 6900 accumulated points is more than twice his closest competitor (Ma Long has 3400).  USA’s Kanak Jha remains at No. 31, the top North American player in the Rankings.

Japan’s Mima Ito moved up one spot this week to No. 5.  She jumped over teammate Hina Hayata (now No. 6).  The top four players are unchanged – China’s dominant group of four are Chen Meng, Sun Yingsha, Wang Manyu and Wang Yidi.  Germany’s Ying Han is No. 7, Doo Hoi Kem of Hong Kong is No. 8, Adriana Diaz of Puerto Rico is No. 9, and Kasumi Ishikawa of Japan is in 10th.  USA’s Lily Zhang moved up 5 spots to No. 38.
