Kanak Rolls to Final in Dusseldorf – See Live Finals Link for 1p EDT (Friday)

(by Steve Hopkins)

Kanak Jha has reached the Final in the WTT Feeder Series event in Dusseldorf this week.  Jha continues to log matches in his comeback as he eyes a May event that provides one of the few remaining opportunities to qualify for the Olympics.

Jha had been as high as 20 in the world before the layoff, and he may need to be playing at that level in order to see his Olympic dream become a reality.  The next step for his preparations was Dusseldorf.  Without a current World Ranking, Jha entered unseeded, but has beaten Rassenfosse, Sareen, Shinozuka, Feng, and Kang on his path to the Final.  That includes wins over World Nos. 124, 45, 73, 72, and 136.  Next up for Jha is the expolosive Korean An Jaehyun (World No. 43).  Win or lose, its been a solid step back for Kanak Jha.

The Final is scheduled for this evening, so we’ll have an update on that last match in a couple of hours.   WorldTableTennis.com and their app will be playing the match live (where available).  It is currently running live on their Youtube Channel link posted below (for as long as the link is accessible):
