Pan Am Update: First Day Wins for TeamUSA Doubles Teams in Santiago

The Pan Am Games are underway in Santiago, Chile.  Sunday was the first day of action and a number of USA teams competed in doubles events.

Amy Wang and Rachel Sung had a 4-0 win in Women’s Doubles, topping the Venezuelan team of Obando Silva and Gonzalez.  Jishan Liang and Lily Zhang had mixed results in their doubles match, defeating Yasiris Ortiz and Jiaji Wu Zhang of the Dominican Republic but losing 1-4 to Brazil’s Bruna Takahashi and Vitor Ishiy.  Jishan Liang and Nandan Naresh lost their opening round match in Men’s Doubles, falling to Jorge Campos and Andy Pereira Diez of Cuba.

Adriana Diaz and Melanie Diaz won their Women’s Doubles match with a 4-0 win over Mabelyn Enriquez and Lucia Cordero.    Canada’s Mo Zhang and Eugene Wang won their opening Mixed Doubles match 4-0 over Paraguay’s Marcelo Aguirre and Lucero Ovelar.

More Doubles action is on tap for Monday and Tuesday, and Singles events will begin on Tuesday.  Check in for more updates.
