The Top Seed in Zagreb, Truls Moregard, has cruised to the Quarterfinals – he will face Patrick Franziska on Saturday morning. Lin Yun-Ju has also advanced easily – and he is set to face up and coming Chinese player Liang Guodong. Xiang Peng, another Chinese qualifier, upset Tomokazu Harimoto on Friday. Peng will face Ricardo Walther in the Quarters. Chuong Chih-Yuan will face Sathiyan Gnanasekaran in the final Quarterfinal pairing. Chuang is one of the seeded players, while Sathiyan’s two wins were both unexpected, a big upset over Darko Jorgic and an easy win over Chen Yuanyu.
The Women’s Singles event has more surprises than top seeds left. Top seeded Hina Hayata fell to Miu Hirano. She will face qualifier Chen Yi in a Quarterfinal. Xiaona Shan will face Korea’s Kim Nayeong and Bernadette Szocs will face Ying Han. The final pairing will be between Mima Ito and Cheng I-Ching.
