ITTF Rankings: WTT Winners Move Up

(by Steve Hopkins/Photo by WTT)

The two WTT Middle East Hub Events have had some effect on the Rankings.  Harimoto (who won the second event) has moved back into the World’s Top 4, and Ovtcharov (who won the first event) has moved up one position to No. 9.  Others who finished in the Top 4 in those events also saw movement – with Simon Gauzy moving up to No. 19, Darko Jorgic jumping up to No. 27 and Ruwen Filus moving up 7 slots to No. 35 (jumping over Germany’s Benedikt Duda in the process).

The Top 3 remain unchanged with Fan Zhendong, Xu Xin, and Ma Long well ahead of the rest of the world in points.  USA’s Kanak Jha is now No. 30 and Puerto Rico’s Brian Afanador is now No. 90.

The Women’s Rankings are the same through the top 9 (lead by Chen Meng, Mima Ito, and Sun Yingsha).  Feng Tianwei has moved up two slots to No. 10 on the strength of her WTT Finals appearance. Puerto Rico’s Adriana Diaz has climbed two slots to No. 16.  USA’s Lily Zhang is at No. 30 and USA’s Jennifer Wu is at No. 32.
