Brian Pace’s Accident – And Road to Recovery

(by Bowmar Sports Team)

Last week, Brian Pace was seriously injured in a biking accident.  Brian is a coach and player who has been a part of the Bowmar/Butterfly family for most of his adult life.  We all wish him a speedy recovery.

A GoFundMe page has been set up in support of Brian to help with his expenses and treatment during his recovery.  Visit the GoFundMe page.

Brian was struck by a van early in the morning during a training ride.  The van turned left in front of Brian striking him and sending bike and rider off the road and into some nearby trees.  Rescue services secured Brian and transported him to WakeMed Trauma Center.

The list of serious injuries is extensive – including fractured ribs, a broken arm, a broken knee, and multiple fractures of the hip and pelvis.  Brian has already had multiple surgeries on his hip, hip socket, and pelvis with bones being reset.  His knee is in a cast and will be monitored as it heals.   Brian has also had numerous blood transfusions and they are monitoring him for internal bleeding and watching his kidney function.

There has been an outpouring of support for Brian already – but he needs our help.  A number of table tennis clubs and groups have joined cycling groups and other individuals to help.  All efforts are being steered towards a single GoFundMe page.
