The WTT Youth Contender series made an important stop in Humacao, Puerto Rico, highlighting the talents of young table tennis players from across the Americas. Among the standout performers were Butterfly Americas-sponsored athletes Tashiya Piyadasa, Edmarie Burgos, and Stuti Kashyap, who delivered outstanding results in their respective categories.
Tashiya Piyadasa continued her rise on the international table tennis scene. After previously claiming the Girls U17 title at the WTT Youth Contender in San Francisco, she once again demonstrated her talent and determination. In Humacao, she reached the finals of the U19 Girls Singles, securing an impressive 2nd place finish.
Puerto Rico’s own Edmarie Burgos has been a strong and consistent presence in the WTT Youth Contender series. Notably, she reached the semifinals in the U19 Girls Singles at the Westchester event, showcasing her competitive edge. In Humacao, she delivered her best performance yet, capturing 1st place in the U19 Girls Singles and also 1st place in U19 Mixed Doubles alongside partner Francesc Carrera from Spain.
Stuti Kashyap’s Breakthrough Performances, continued to make her mark on the youth circuit. Her performances in various WTT Youth Contender events have established her as a player to watch. In Humacao, she achieved 3rd place in the U19 Girls Singles and took home the championship in the U17 Girls Singles a clear sign of her growing potential.
A Competitive Stage Across the Americas.
The Humacao event featured a broad range of categories, with young athletes competing at a high level. The WTT Youth Contender series has seen strong participation from across the Americas, with events held in the United States, Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, Paraguay, and Puerto Rico. These tournaments provide invaluable international exposure and experience for young players.
In Ecuador, standout performances from athletes like Rachel Wang and Sally Moyland, who reached the U19 Girls Singles final, further underscore the opportunities provided by the series.
As the WTT Youth Contender series continues to grow, it promises to nurture and showcase the next generation of table tennis stars from across the Americas.
