WTTC Interviews: Anton Kallberg

1.You ousted Lin Gaoyuan in the second singles round. Please tell us what you liked and what you regret about your play.

It was a very tough match with an incredible strong opponent so I had to fight very har for every single point.
He was controlling the match from the start and was by far the better player but I managed to save a couple of match points and take it to the deciding set. While there I didn’t take the chances that I had while he did and deserved the win in the end.

2.What do you feel you have grown in this competition and what challenges have you found?

I think I played well tactics in the two singles that I played. In my first game I could dominate the match from start to end thanks to well thought out serves and fast attacks.
In my second match against Lin Gaoyuan I struggled to control the high quality shots he was hitting at me and I felt under a lot of pressure which I think now is something I have to work on. The Asians and especially the Chinese play with a much higher speed and a higher power level which makes it harder to keep the control and I believe that is something I have to improve to be able to beat the top players in the world.

3.What are your thoughts on the first WTTC held in the United States?

From an organization point of view it was of course great that the hall and hotel was linked with each other and made it very easy to walk between.
I think it wasn’t the best for the spectators watching there on site when the tournament was still being played on 10 tables. Was very difficult to see the matches being played far away and also made it impossible to watch table 1 same time as watching the other tables. But after it was played on just one table I think it was good presented and the fans got really close to the table.
I think it was great it was being hold in the U.S and I hope it reached out to a lot of people in the U.S and World wide.
