(by: Butterfly Japan)

On April 22, 2024, Mayor Frank Meyer of Krefeld, Germany, where Butterfly’s overseas local subsidiary Tamasu Butterfly Europa (TBE) is located, visited Butterfly TEC with his officials.

The Krefeld delegation came to Japan on April 18th and stayed to the 25th to visit Japanese companies with local subsidiaries in Krefeld and to express their appreciation for the contribution to their local economy and employment.

First, they exchanged views with Takako Osawa, President and Managing Director of Tamasu Co., Ltd. The two sides conveyed their gratitude to each other and in a friendly atmosphere, exchanged views on topics on economy, sports, and others, and confirmed future cooperation.

After that, they toured Butterfly TEC, and at the blade factory, they saw the process from sorting materials to the completion of the blade. Mayor Frank Meyer, an experienced table tennis player, listened to the explanation with great interest throughout the tour.

Finally, Mayor Frank Meyer gave Butterfly silk scarves and ties produced in Krefeld, a city known for its textile industry, as souvenirs.

Butterfly presented them with plywood binders and fridge magnets made from unused wood and reaffirmed their cooperation in the future. They then headed home.

The delegation eagerly toured the blade factory

Both parties exchanged commemorative gifts.

Butterfly established TBE as its first subsidiary in 1973, more than 50 years ago.
The company started with two staff at the time, but now has over 30 staff responsible for sales in approximately 120 countries and territories, sponsoring numerous competitions and supporting over 140 contracted players.

TBE will continue to involve deeply in table tennis in Germany and the rest of Europe to promote and develop the sport.
